Fellowship with God's People
This section demonstrates that God wants faithful fellowship with other Christians. It is paramount for you the student to understand your obligation to join" a local fellowship (Acts 9:26). From the beginning, Christians identified themselves with a local group of Christians. When Phoebe, a Christian woman who was a member of the church in Cenchrea planned to move to Rome, Paul wrote the church at Cenchrea a letter asking them to "receive her" (Romans 16:1-2). God wants a local church to be involved in the training and discipline of each individual Christian.
A Christian must not forsake the assembly of the local church. Meeting with a fishing buddy at the river Sunday morning is not the Bible's definition of an assembly. In God's word every example where Christians had a choice, they were members of a local church.
